Senate Democrats are ready to take a public stand on codifying abortion up until birth — before the U.S. Supreme Court rules this summer on the future of Roe v. Wade. In tonight’s In-Depth Report, Church Militant’s Paul Murano analyzes the move and the strategy of Chuck Schumer and his Party of Death.
Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., Senate majority leader: “We know what’s at stake. Over the last three years, women’s reproductive rights have come under attack in a way we haven’t seen in modern history.”
The Senate majority leader has seen to it the Senate will vote on the so-called Women’s Health Protection Act on Monday, Feb. 28.
Mallory Quigley, VP communications, Susan B. Anthony List: “The Women’s Health Protection Act is a very deceptively named bill. Within the first few lines of the bill text you realize that it is all about promoting and protecting the abortion industry.”
This bill would allow abortion on demand in all 50 states, both surgical and chemical, all the way up to birth, even if Roe gets overturned. It would nullify all existing state laws prohibiting, limiting, restricting and regulating the gruesome fatal practice.
Anna Perez, producer, The Water Cooler:
This bill would not just codify Roe v. Wade, but according to the Heritage Foundation — which has done a great of job of breaking down the bill for us, by the way — would also prevent state protections for children from abortion based on their sex, race or diagnosis of a genetic abnormality such as Down syndrome.
If Roe is overturned by the high court’s ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, 18 states, shown here in blue, already have laws in place to preserve prenatal murder.
While states in red have mixed records and give mixed signals, 23 states, shown here in green, are sympathetic to outlawing abortion. Most of them already have trigger laws in place that would kick in if Roe is canceled.
If this bill is passed, however, all these laws protecting life would be nullified.
The House already voted 218–211 in September in favor of the murderous bill.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.: “They are willing to shut down our economy, force children to stay home from school so no one dies from COVID; but yet all of them except for one, Henry Cuellar from Texas — he was the only one that did not vote for it.”
In an evenly split Senate, Democrats Bob Casey of Pennsylvania and Joe Manchin of West Virginia will be in the spotlight. Both call themselves pro-life but have inconsistent records.
Sen. Chuck Schumer: “We’re sitting down and discussing things with Sen. Manchin, and we want to hear what he has to say.”
Pundits point out Monday’s vote is a procedural one. The Senate needs 60 votes, which it doesn’t have. Some say the vote is a statement to 2022 pro-abortion voters to vote Democrat or lose your right to murder.
Sen. Chuck Schumer: “That’s what’s going to happen.”
The Democratic Party of Death knows the right to kill children in the womb is at the heart of its power.
Abolishing the filibuster would enable the bill to pass by a simple majority. Monday’s vote will show pro-abortion voters how important abolishing the filibuster is to the Democrats’ agenda.
