Though the Ambassador Bridge is reopened, Canada’s fight for freedom is far from closed. Police ended a week of protests at the Ambassador Bridge, a suspension bridge that connects Detroit and Windsor, Ontario. But Church Militant’s William Mahoney looks at how the struggle for liberty continues.

Traffic on the Ambassador Bridge resumed Monday morning. But Canada’s Freedom Convoy carries on, and, as a result, approval for Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau is plummeting. This according to a new poll, the results of which led the executive vice president of the polling company to exclaim, “I think this could cost him his job!”

Before the Ambassador Bridge protests were dispersed, one immigrant who fled China for Canada made it clear this is a struggle for freedom and begged police to do the right thing.

Chinese woman: “Yes. Tiananmen Square.”

Male protestor: “Yeah.”

Chinese woman: “Lots of people dead, lots of blood — still they’re not dead.”

Female protestor: “They come to Canada for freedom, and this is what you do to them.”

Though the protest at the Ambassador Bridge was stopped, police in other parts of Canada are showing support for protestors.

Canadian police officer: “I support you guys 100%, alright — I haven’t been to Ottawa — a lot of us are. I’ve heard great things for protestors. Everybody’s very polite, very thankful.”

The Freedom Convoy began as a series of protests and blockades against jab mandates, but evolved into a rejection of Wuhan-virus-related restrictions in general.

Protestor: “It is not normal for us to be wearing masks all day. I’m sick and tired of it. I’m a teacher. Students in their classroom, they’re sick and tired of it too.”

In the United States, reactions to Canada’s Freedom Convoy are predictable based on political associations.

Regarding the Ambassador Bridge reopening, Michigan’s Democrat governor Gretchen Whitmer alleged it’s “a win for Michigan’s working families, who are just trying to do their jobs,” singing a very different tune than when her unnecessary lockdowns destroyed small businesses.

Meanwhile, Detroit’s former police chief, a Republican seeking to oust Whitmer as governor, asserts, “I support all working people who are standing up for personal freedom.”

Many view this as a conflict between good and evil. And while evil never sleeps, it seems the good in Canada are waking up in droves.

In terms of volume, the Ambassador Bridge carries over 25% of merchandise trade between Canada and the United States.
