LANSING, Mich. (ChurchMilitant.com) – Faithful Catholics are resisting Michigan’s questionable 2020 election by demanding a full and transparent audit of its election results.

Church Militant’s Resistance teamed up with Michigan Conservative Coalition (MCC) and with hundreds of fellow Michiganders, converging on the steps of the state Capitol June 17 to call for a statewide forensic audit of the scandal-ridden 2020 election. To reinforce their appeal, ralliers personally delivered to various state politicians more than 7,500 affidavits that were signed by Michigan citizens concerned over the integrity of the presidential election.

Michigan attorney Matt Deperno, who adapted Michigan’s legal forms from Arizona’s affidavits, addressed concerned Catholics who joined the rally: “The conspiracy theory is that nothing happened, that this was a safe election, the safest in the history of this country. That’s a conspiracy theory, that’s a fever dream, and people need to go to jail for telling you that.”

Prior to the rally, Detroit’s Resistance chapter circulated copies of the affidavits at various events and held an affidavit-signing drive at Church Militant headquarters in Ferndale. Resistance members drove these affidavits to Lansing where they were prayed over and pooled with those collected by others including MCC, which had gathered nearly 3,000 signed affidavits.

Politicians’ Pushback

As it turned out, however, gathering the large number of signatures was the easy part; getting the Michigan politicians to accept them was another matter. While some representatives happily received the signed documents, others declined to even make an appearance to acknowledge the deliveries.

Kristina Karamo, Republican candidate for secretary of state, appeared at the rally and even assisted in walking the boxes of affidavits to the office of Jocelyn Benson, the current secretary of state. Upon arrival, however, she was denied access. Karamo’s only option was to leave the legal forms with the security guard.

The right of Michigan voters to demand such an audit was seemingly thwarted by the state’s refusal to accept these batches of affidavits.

One CM Resistance member, responsible for delivering his signed affidavit copies to Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey, related to Church Militant how he was waylaid at the front desk of Shirkey’s office. Unable to deliver the legal forms directly to the senator, or even get him to sign a form acknowledging he had received them, the Resistance member could only leave the affidavits in a separate conference room.

Dubious Audit Efforts

The right of Michigan voters to demand such an audit was seemingly thwarted by the state’s refusal to accept these batches of affidavits. This right is stated in Article II Section 4 of the Constitution of Michigan: “Every citizen of the United States who is an elector qualified to vote in Michigan shall have the following rights: … The right to have the results of statewide elections audited, in such a manner as prescribed by law, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of elections.”

Michiganders demanded a forensic audit of the 2020 election.

Benson has shown herself unwilling to allow a full statewide investigation, citing the more than 250 audits that were already conducted in March. Despite these so-called audits being touted by news outlets as “the most comprehensive series of audits in the state,” many Republican politicians and citizens in the state are unhappy with the fragmentary and insufficient inspections.

“The ‘audits’ that she’s done are just little baby recounts done internally and not done by an independent nonpartisan process,” commented Steve Carra, a Michigan state representative. Carra introduced in June House Bill 5091. If passed, it will create a bipartisan “audit board” tasked with completing a forensic audit on the 2020 election.

The three types of audits performed in Michigan examined only select areas of the state. The “precinct procedural” audits, for instance, used for ensuring that all officials and poll workers followed proper election procedures, reviewed fewer than 300 of the state’s nearly 5,000 voting precincts. Critics say such audits fail to take into account the immense number of voter ballots counted in the state, and thus do little to catch potential voter fraud.

Biden Pushes Back Against States

Outcries in various states calling for investigations of 2020 election procedures began soon after the Nov. 3 election results were reported. An audit was ordered in Maricopa County, Arizona early this year, and now residents in other states including Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Georgia are demanding similar investigations.

Joe Biden’s attorney general Merrick Garland has threatened fines and prison time for organizers of “election forensic audits,” prompting pushback from Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich, who promised a fight and admonished, “Shame on the DOJ, shame on the Biden administration for caving to left-wing activists.” CNN has published the Department of Justice’s so-called guidance on audit requests.

No state has yet to conduct a full statewide audit. Critics say these audits will be necessary to properly ascertain the true election results. Michigan law stipulates that voters have a right to verifiable election results.

The Constitution of Michigan states: “All political power is inherent in the people. Government is instituted for their equal benefit, security and protection.”

Church Militant’s Resistance is joining the fight for election integrity. It wishes to join forces with like-minded citizens who want to restore election integrity in each state as necessary steps in restoring the moral integrity of the entire nation.
