Like the Israelites being freed from slavery to the Egyptians, Milo Yiannopoulos knows that he’s been freed from his slavery to sin. He now wants to help others saddled with same-sex attraction.
Church Militant’s Paul Murano lays out Milo’s message of hope and healing to those stuck in a lifestyle they know is unhealthy and immoral.
Milo Yiannopoulos: “Today is my one-year straight-iversary.”
Milo is celebrating his straight-iversary with humility and gratitude.
Milo: “It’s a year from the day I said I was going to put sodomy and lust behind me and live more closely according to God’s wishes for me.”
He realizes he couldn’t have made it without tough love. And this includes unambiguous truth and accountability to it.
Milo: “Tough love is the love that matters. And my readers and listeners have given me just that. They’ve given me a lot of tough love, and, without that, I don’t know if I’d be here today.”
Milo disavows the notion that disordered desires are one’s identity.
Lady Gaga (singing): “I’m beautiful in my way, ’cause God makes no mistakes. I’m on the right track, baby, I was born this way.”
Milo: “‘Born this way’ is a lie. It’s propaganda. It’s not true. … You can change. You can live as you were always supposed to. And when you do that, everything in your life will start to get better.”
Milo now wants to give back.
Milo: “What you feel at the moment is an inexorable and unavoidable sexuality is just a product of trauma that you might not even realize that you suffered. But you did. I’m going to help you.”
Knowing the power of sex addiction, he has plans to follow God’s inspiration to help others.
Milo: “To open up a center, a clinic for other men who have been suffering from same-sex attraction … I know what haunts and torments you, and I know it doesn’t have to be the end. It doesn’t have to be just this for you.”
Following in the footsteps of apostolates like Courage International, Milo knows same-sex attraction can be overcome by God’s love.
Courage International Spokesman: “My perception of what is and isn’t loving is so distorted by having exposed myself to pornography and having lived this lifestyle for so long. But slowly, God is purifying me in ways that I didn’t think were possible.”
Everyone inherits various disordered tendencies owing to original sin and sustains other wounds due to injustices of our fallen world. Milo and others know through experience that giving in to these disordered urges can lead to obsession and unhappiness, and that freedom and redemption are possible in Christ.
A self-described Catholic, Milo will be right here at our Church Militant studios this Friday to discuss life after his life-changing decision.
