While U.S. bishops gather for their spring assembly, Students for Life of America rallied in seven dioceses Wednesday to encourage bishops to uphold Catholic teaching on sacrilegious reception of the Eucharist. Church Militant’s Trey Blanton has the latest on the group’s efforts to get Catholic bishops to act on what they preach.

Students for Life can’t help bring an end to abortion if clergy, responsible for the moral integrity of their flock, are not clear that abortion places you outside the faith.

Kristen Hawkins, President of Students for Life, spoke in Washington D.C.: “This not only violates our Church teaching, but endangers the soul of these very politicians. And it shows our congregation that our Church must not really mean it when we talk about abortion.”

The group rallied in Chicago and Washington, D.C. to protest Cdl. Blase Cupich and Cdl. Wilton Gregory on their refusal to condemn fake Catholic Joe Biden. Students also rallied to support the prelates who have made clear statements in support of life at dioceses in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Kansas City, Kansas and Tyler, Texas.

The group reports only Bp. Joseph Strickland, in Tyler, took the time to speak with the gathered students.

Hawkins continues, “It’s been known for a while where some of the bishops stand on this issue, which is why we went out there to rally. We thought, especially having young people come out, to remind the bishops what the Eucharist is and just the significance and miracle.”

Catholics know the Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord. Jesus, Himself, said you should not cast your pearls before swine. Our bishops do that every time they permit politicians to sacrilegiously receive Christ’s Real Presence.

Kristan Hawkins, a convert to Catholicism, is dismayed by the unwillingness of so many bishops to provide a robust defense of life and the Holy Eucharist.
